The Red Iron Rooftop

Compliant with the demands of the clients, the space was designed as a hub for social gatherings. While they wanted a modern appearance, they were also clear that they did not want a minimalist look. After multiple discussions and to suitably match the client’s robust persona, it was decided that an industrial look would be adopted- emphasizing on natural materials like steel, concrete, and glass, and raw detailing, while maintaining a laid-back mood. Bringing in the funky element of the design was the incorporation of a bold red at specific places.

The deck is the primary seating area with customized furniture including sofas, accent tables and bar seating. Behind the deck is the vibrant bar, bringing in the pop of color to the space. Sitting with a drink in hand, from the elaborate bar, guests can enjoy the theatrical ambience while watching the projection on the bare wall, opposite to the bar. A small powder room is located next to the bar for the convenience of the guests.

As soon as one enters the terrace, their eyes are directed to the red grill wall beside which is the curved glass wall. Composed of translucent glass blocks, it allows a soft outline of the greenery behind it.

In an outdoor setting, the external environment can be distracting. Using ripple metal sheets, the surrounding property elements are hidden from direct view. To achieve the cozy atmosphere which an industrial, sleek, and black-white appearance can minimize, lush greenery was placed in planters all around the terrace.
